NEW BREATH ALCOHOL ANALYSERS PASS THE TEST
June 2010
Tachodisc is renowned for using its experience and knowledge of road transport legislation when selecting new products that claim to facilitate the management of fleet operations. The company only chooses the best ‘fit for purpose’ products for its customers, and the new Alert® J5 Professional and SNAP™ disposable breath alcohol analysers are the latest to pass the test.
The new portable Alert J5 Professional features the latest technology in platinum electrochemical sensor fuel cells – the standard in police issued breath testers - and provides highly accurate test results in seconds. With just two buttons, Alert J5 will easily allow operators to capture driver’s breath samples and recall previous tests from its in-built memory.
Priced at £495 (+VAT), the Alert J5 offers professional technology at an affordable price. Karen Crispe, Director at Tachodisc says; “The Alert J5 is an invaluable device to ensure drivers are complying with the UK drink-driving legal limit. Its technological capabilities and ease of use makes it a must-have product - this will become even more so if the Government’s current review proposals to lower the drink drive limit from 80mg per 100ml of blood to 50mg becomes law. The long term stability of the sensor also means that it offers whole life cycle cost benefits - and importantly, you can count on accurate results year after year.”
A less expensive alternative is SNAP, a disposal breath alcohol tester which uses sensitive crystals that change colour when exposed to alcohol. Karen adds; “With an RRP of just £2.95, SNAP does not have the Alert J5’s sophistication or technological superiority but it does offer a very simple and cost effective solution for screening driver’s alcohol levels.” Users simply break the inner glass tube, and blow through one end of the tube to provide the breath sample. If the yellow crystals show a visible colour change, the driver’s alcohol level is above the indicated zero tolerance level of 0.02%. Results appear in under 2 minutes.
