TACHODISC’S iPHONE APP PROVES A BIG HIT

NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT
June 2010

Tachodisc has confirmed that its iPhone App is proving a real hit with drivers both here and abroad, and has already achieved a 5* rating on the Apple App Store.

To date more than 2,000 drivers have taken advantage of Tachodisc’s free download, which provides easy and instant access to the latest information relating to Tachographs and Drivers Hours’ Law.  Karen Crispe, Director at Tachodisc said; “We were all very excited about becoming the first to launch an iPhone App solely dedicated to tachographs and industry legislation, but being a niche App serving a small sector of drivers who have iPhones, and we certainly didn’t expect these types of download numbers; in the first week alone we received 300 downloads and the feedback has been fantastic!

We have also seen a surprising number of downloads from drivers based in other European countries.  This is interesting from the point that foreign drivers are subject to our stringent enforcement of the legislation whilst driving in the UK and the App provides an instant legislative reference tool whilst on the move.”

Tachodisc’s ASKTachodisc-Mobile App provides tachograph users with a handy legal reference guide and a much-needed guidance resource relating to the practical day-to-day operations of tachographs.  It contains bite sized and easy-to-understand reference information on Drivers Hours’ Law, Working Time Regulations and Driver CPC, and features Tachodisc’s popular digital tachograph ‘How To’ user guides.  The ‘How To’ guides contain helpful information on how to make the transition over to digital and provide a useful referral point for drivers out on the road, and where there is no access to a computer.

The topics featured cover the key operational aspects of using digital tachographs, from a How to Guide to Tachographs which pictorially illustrates how to operate the three different types of Digital tachographs from VDO, Stoneridge and Actia, to information on Paper and Using Printer Rolls, Pictograms, Data Collection and Analysis.  In addition, advice on choosing Downloading Devices and Drivers Aids is available.

Tachodisc also sends free regular legislative and news updates via the App’s live RSS feed function to ensure users are kept up-to-date with all the latest developments.

Karen adds; “A number of Drivers who have downloaded our iPhone App have said that we should have charged for it because it’s a ‘must-have’ for any trucker!  For us, it’s about continually finding new and innovative ways to share our experience and deliver meaningful and beneficial business information to our customers.  We believe, the ASKTachodisc-Mobile App is not only a valuable ‘one stop’ reference aid for drivers, but it is also the perfect communication tool to keep customers proactively informed - it literally enables us to send the latest Drivers’ Hours Law and tachograph information right to a drivers finger tips, no matter where they are.”
