With over 31 years of service with Tachodisc Angela certainly has been a part of some magnificent highs with the company. So, we thought we'd take the time to get to know Angela a little better and get her opinion on some of the industries biggest challenges.
What is your role within Tachodisc?
I am the Manager of the Tachodisc team.
How long have you worked here for?
31.5 years if you can believe it!
What would you say is the biggest contributing factor to your length of service?
I think for me the biggest factor has been my ability to move forward within the company as my home circumstances changed and my family grew up. I've also been able to develop my knowledge and skill set as the company diversified and grew.
What is something people in your industry have to deal with that you want to fix?
Managing compliance within a heavily legislated industry. It's important that we provide advice on best practice in areas that require clarification and understanding. You often find companies are not compliant because they don't fully understand the new legislation or what they are supposed to do to continue to be compliant as it has not been made clear to them.
Describe your job in three words.
Responsible, Challenging & Diverse
What is the biggest change that you have seen in the industry since working for Tachodisc?
The move from analogue tachographs to digital tachographs.
What's the most interesting thing about the transport industry?
Every company is different in this industry. We deal with one-man bands and multi-depot businesses. It's about correctly identifying their needs and providing the best solutions for their business.
Your customers are very loyal, why do you think this is?
Communication. Tachodisc has always tried to apply the personal service and build relationships with our customers, we make sure all of our customers feel confident in our abilities to deliver what we say we will.
What's your fondest memory of Tachodisc?
Tachodisc at its height. We were employing over 140 people, leading the industry and we were the only UK manufacturer of analogue charts!
